Police Brutality Protest

A protest highlighting police brutality was planned by our core team (Sophia Heath, Alex Iliopoulou, Kelly Yu) and occurred on Wednesday, June 3. The protest included over 10 black community speakers, including local activist Quinta Ekong, former mayor Claire Mack, SMFCSD Board member Shara Watkins, and others. Over 2,000 people marched with us from San Mateo City Hall to the police department where we had a 3 minutes of silence for the recent victims. Our team and speakers are very proud that our first event remained peaceful and  took part in shedding light on the racial injustices in our county. Our photographer, Monica Cuenca, took photos that you can view here.
